Help school in Ukraine to care of war refugees
Please help us care for displaced refugee students who found safe accommodation in our boarding school.
About Slavutynka
During normal peace times, Slavutynka is a boarding high school located in the Ukrainian city of Kamianets Podilskyi that provides great opportunities for learning and development. Our students are exposed to a variety of educational experiences including advanced mathematics, literature, foreign languages and arts. Students from different cities in Ukraine come to our school to learn and experience the beauty of our city and the rich historic culture. Our
school is supported by the regional and federal government of Ukraine together with contributions by parents depending on their financial ability to pay.
War Effort at Slavutynka
Our historic city, Kamianets Podilskyi, is located in the western part of Ukraine. It is considered a relatively safe area during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Since Slavutynka has the capacity and boarding facilities to take care of high school children, the Ukrainian government has asked us to house students evacuated from other, less safe, areas of Ukraine such as Odesa, Chernihiv, and Kyiv.
We had to ask our regular students to stay at home while they are provided classes remotely in order to accommodate the incoming displaced students.
While we have been given the additional responsibility of caring for, housing, feeding, and educating our new wards, the government of Ukraine is currently unable to provide all the funds necessary to provide adequately for the children.
Local citizens, including our teachers, have all donated to help keep the school functioning, however we are in desperate need for more funds to buy basic necessities.
Students Hosted at Our School
Currently we are taking care of 58 students ages 15 to 16 from Odesa and Chernihiv. Before the war they attended Odesa Marine Preparatory School in Odesa, Ukraine.
